Vancouver’s older brick chimneys don’t follow a one-size-fits-all price tag, and neither do we. Your chimney sweep cost depends on more than just the sweep itself. Here’s what actually moves the needle, and why we never hide it.
Myth: ‘Every chimney sweep in Vancouver charges the same for a sweep’
If you’ve gotten quotes for a chimney sweep in Vancouver, you’ve likely seen prices bounce between $150 and $350. The truth? That range isn’t random, it’s tied to your chimney’s condition, not just the sweep. Older brick chimneys in neighborhoods like Battle Ground or La Center often need extra attention: cracked mortar, rusted dampers, or stubborn creosote buildup that requires specialized tools. We charge by the job, not the hour, and we’ll always explain why. For a breakdown of what services we offer, check our services page. If you’re unsure whether your chimney needs more than a basic sweep, our team can assess it during your visit, no surprises.
What Vancouver Homeowners Get Wrong About Pricing for Chimney Repairs
Most people assume a chimney sweep cost in Vancouver is just ‘$X per sweep,’ but that ignores the real variables. For example: A woodland home with a single-story chimney might run $200, while a Washougal house with a two-story brick chimney and a rusted liner could hit $350. Why? Access matters, ladders, scaffolding, or even a rooftop crawl for inspection add time. Then there’s the work itself: If your chimney has Vancouver’s signature old brickwork, we might need to chip away creosote encrusted in the joints, which takes longer. We’ve seen DIY attempts make the job harder (and more expensive) later, if you’re curious about the risks, our compare/diy-vs-professional-chimney-cleaning guide spells it out.
